Cook

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and cook meals according to guests' orders, preferences and approved menus.
• Prepare a variety of local Nigerian dishes and other meals as required.
  
• Ensure meals are properly cooked, tasty, fresh and attractively presented.
• Maintain high standards of kitchen cleanliness, hygiene and food safety.
• Properly store food items and monitor their freshness and expiry dates.
• Monitor kitchen supplies and notify management when ingredients and other supplies need replenishment.
• Minimise food waste and use ingredients responsibly.
• Maintain kitchen equipment and report faults or maintenance needs.
• Follow food preparation schedules and ensure meals are served on time.
• Take note of guests' dietary requirements and communicate any special requests to management.
• Maintain records of food supplies and kitchen inventory where required.
• Carry out other reasonable duties assigned by management.

Requirements:

• Minimum of SSCE; a qualification or training in Catering, Hospitality Management or Culinary Arts is an advantage.
• Good cooking skills and knowledge of food preparation.
• Ability to prepare a variety of Nigerian meals.
• Knowledge of proper food handling, kitchen hygiene and food safety.
• Good sense of taste, presentation and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.

• Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple meal orders.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage food ingredients carefully and avoid unnecessary waste.
• Previous experience working in a hotel, restaurant, serviced apartment or catering business is an advantage.
• Willingness to work shifts, weekends and public holidays when required.
