Hospital Manager/Floor Coordinator
Job summary
A Hospital Manager/Floor Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring the smooth, efficient day-to-day operation of the clinical floor. They act as a liaison between doctors, nurses, optometrists, and administrative staff to ensure high-quality, patient-centric care.
Job descriptions & requirements
- Floor Operations & Patient Flow: Overseeing daily operations, including managing patient movement from registration to consultation, diagnostic tests (like OCT, fundus, topography), and discharge.
- Staff Coordination & Supervision: Leading and motivating a team of optometrists, ophthalmic assistants, nurses, and housekeeping staff. This includes creating duty rosters, conducting briefings, and assigning tasks.
- Patient Experience & Service Excellence: Addressing patient concerns, grievances, and feedback in an empathetic manner to ensure a high standard of service.
- Clinical & Non-Clinical Coordination: Liaising with optometrists, ophthalmologists, and nurses to ensure timely check-ups, procedures, and surgeries. Coordinating with support departments like pharmacy, optical, and billing.
- Quality Assurance & Compliance: Ensuring adherence to hospital protocolls and infection control practices.
- Inventory & Maintenance: Ensuring the floor is adequately stocked with necessary consumables (lenses, eye drops, diagnostic materials) and that medical equipment is in good working condition.
- Reporting & Documentation: Maintaining accurate daily records of patient visits, waiting times, and other key performance indicators (KPIs) to report to senior management.
Requirements:
- Education: A Bachelor's degree in Hospital Administration, Healthcare Management, or a related field is typically required. An MBA in Healthcare is often preferred.
- Experience: Generally 2–5 years of experience in a hospital or clinic setting, with specific experience in eye care or outpatient department (OPD) management being highly desirable.
- Experience in an eye hospital or ophthalmology setup is a plus. Leadership qualities with problem-solving abilities. Patient-centric approach with a focus on service excellence.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with ophthalmology sub-specialties (refractive, retina, cataract).
- Experience in a high-volume eye care setting.
- Familiarity with charitable/community outreach programs.
- Training in NABH/JCI accreditation standards.
