Health and Safety Officer

Responsibilities:

• Develop, implement, and monitor workplace health and safety policies and procedures.
• Conduct regular workplace inspections to identify potential hazards and safety risks.
• Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations and industry standards.
• Conduct risk assessments and recommend appropriate preventive measures.
• Organise health and safety training and awareness programmes for employees.
• Investigate workplace accidents, injuries, and near-miss incidents.\
• Prepare incident reports and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Ensure employees use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Monitor workplace conditions to ensure a safe and healthy working environment.
• Coordinate emergency response procedures, fire drills, and evacuation exercises.
• Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, incidents, training, and compliance activities.

Requirements:

• HND in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, Health Education, Public Health, or a related field.
• Knowledge of workplace health and safety procedures, hazard identification, and risk assessment.
• Understanding of health and safety regulations and emergency response procedures.
• Good communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to identify workplace hazards and recommend appropriate preventive measures.
• Attention to detail and strong observation skills.
• Ability to prepare safety reports and maintain accurate records.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic reporting tools.
