Job Title: Head of Litigation (Barrister)

Job Summary
We are seeking an accomplished and highly experienced Senior Litigation Lawyer with a minimum of 15 years post-call experience to lead and manage complex litigation matters. The successful candidate will provide strategic legal direction, represent clients in high-stakes cases, and drive exceptional legal outcomes while mentoring junior associates and upholding the highest standards of professional excellence.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Represent clients in complex, high-value, and high-profile litigation matters before courts and tribunals
Develop and implement effective litigation strategies from case inception through to resolution
Draft, review, and settle pleadings, motions, briefs, and other legal documentation
Conduct in-depth legal research and provide sound, strategic legal opinions
Manage court appearances, including trial and appellate advocacy
Negotiate settlements and oversee alternative dispute resolution processes where appropriate
Advise clients on legal risks, regulatory compliance, and dispute resolution strategies
Supervise, mentor, and review the work of junior lawyers and legal staff
Ensure strict adherence to court procedures, deadlines, and ethical standards
REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS
LL.B and BL; must be duly called to the Nigerian Bar
Minimum of 15 years post-call experience with a strong litigation background
Demonstrated success in handling complex commercial and civil litigation matters
Excellent advocacy, negotiation, and courtroom presentation skills
Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving abilities
Proven leadership and team management experience
In-depth knowledge of Nigerian laws, legal systems, and court procedures
High level of integrity, professionalism, and ethical conduct
