Job summary
The Head of HR & Administration will provide leadership and oversight for all human resources, administrative, and operational functions of the school. The role is critical in ensuring compliance, staff effectiveness, smooth school operations, and alignment with the school’s values and strategic objectives.

Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with the school’s vision and growth plans
- Oversee recruitment, onboarding, confirmation, and exit processes for academic and non-academic staff
- Manage performance appraisal systems, staff development, and training programs
- Ensure compliance with Nigerian labour laws, education sector regulations, and best HR practices
- Handle employee relations, disciplinary processes, grievance management, and conflict resolution
- Manage payroll coordination, leave administration, benefits, and staff records
- Foster a positive school culture focused on professionalism, accountability, and child-centred values
- Oversee day-to-day administrative operations of the school
- Supervise administrative staff, security, cleaners, drivers, and support teams
- Manage facilities, assets, inventory, and vendors (security, cleaning, maintenance, transport, etc.)
- Ensure health, safety, and welfare standards for staff and pupils are consistently met
- Support school leadership with policy development, documentation, and reporting
- Liaise with regulatory bodies, consultants, and external service providers
- Support budgeting, cost control, and operational efficiency initiatives
- Serve as a key member of the school’s management team
- Advise management on people-related risks, workforce planning, and organizational development
- Drive continuous improvement of HR and administrative systems and processes
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Humanities, Business Administration, Psychology, or a related field
- Minimum of 5–7 years’ relevant experience in HR and administration
- Prior experience in a school or education environment is a strong advantage
- Proven experience managing both professional and support staff
- Professional HR certification (CIPM, SHRM, HRCI, or equivalent) is an added advantage
- Strong knowledge of Nigerian labour laws and HR best practices
- Excellent leadership, people management, and communication skills High level of discretion, integrity, and professionalism
- Strong organizational and administrative skills Ability to work in a structured, child-focused environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HR systems Calm, firm, and fair leadership style
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making ability
- Ability to balance empathy with policy enforcement
