About The Role
We are seeking an experienced and commercially astute Head of Finance to lead the financial strategy, planning, and operations of a premium hospitality organization. The successful candidate will be responsible for building and managing a robust finance function, ensuring sound financial governance, regulatory compliance, and strategic decision-making that supports sustainable business growth.
This role requires a finance leader with strong analytical capabilities, exceptional business acumen, and experience managing complex financial operations, budgeting, forecasting, capital expenditure, and multi-revenue business models.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement the organization's financial strategy in alignment with business objectives.
- Lead all financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial modelling activities.
- Prepare annual budgets, rolling forecasts, and financial performance reports for executive management.
- Manage cash flow, liquidity, working capital, and treasury operations to ensure financial stability.
- Oversee capital expenditure planning, procurement payments, vendor management, and investment monitoring.
- Develop and maintain financial models for revenue forecasting, pricing strategies, profitability analysis, and business expansion.
- Establish and manage robust internal controls, financial policies, and governance frameworks.
- Oversee all accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, fixed assets, and general ledger management.
- Ensure timely preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual management accounts and financial statements.
- Coordinate statutory audits and liaise with external auditors, tax consultants, regulatory agencies, and financial institutions.
- Ensure full compliance with Nigerian financial regulations, tax laws, and statutory obligations, including FIRS, PAYE, Pension, NSITF, NHF, and Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) requirements.
- Oversee membership billing, collections, revenue assurance, and financial reconciliation processes.
- Monitor business performance through financial analysis, KPI reporting, and variance analysis, providing recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Evaluate investment opportunities, business risks, and financial implications of strategic initiatives.
- Advise executive management on financial strategy, pricing, profitability, cost optimization, and capital allocation decisions.
- Develop financial policies, standard operating procedures, and reporting frameworks to enhance operational efficiency.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team while fostering a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
- Manage relationships with banks, investors, financial partners, and key external stakeholders.
- Support contract negotiations, commercial agreements, and procurement decisions from a financial perspective.
- Ensure the confidentiality and integrity of all financial information and organizational assets.
- Perform other duties assigned by management.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- Professional accounting qualification such as ICAN, ACCA, ACA, or an equivalent internationally recognized certification is mandatory.
- Minimum of 5 years' progressive post-qualification experience, with at least 2 years in a senior finance leadership or management role.
- Previous experience within hospitality, healthcare, real estate, private membership clubs, luxury services, or other service-oriented industries will be an added advantage.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS, financial reporting standards, taxation, corporate finance, budgeting, and financial controls.
- Proven experience managing cash flow, capital expenditure, treasury operations, and financial planning.
- Experience overseeing procurement finance, contract management, vendor payments, and foreign exchange transactions is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated experience establishing financial systems, controls, reporting structures, and finance operations.
- Advanced financial modelling, forecasting, and business analysis skills.
- Proficiency in accounting software such as Sage, QuickBooks, Microsoft Dynamics, SAP, Oracle, Zoho Books, or similar ERP systems.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and financial reporting skills.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, leadership, and decision-making abilities.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
- High ethical standards, integrity, discretion, and professionalism.
- Must reside in Abuja or be willing to relocate.
