Job Summary
Alpha Analytica Laboratory Services is seeking a motivated early-career professional with a strong scientific background to join our team as a Graduate Sales & Business Development Executive. This role is designed for candidates with solid knowledge of analytical chemistry and laboratory techniques who are interested in developing a career in technical sales and business development.
The successful candidate will be trained to bridge the gap between laboratory science and client needs, supporting sales activities, client engagement, and market development for analytical testing, environmental consultancy, and laboratory equipment services.
Key Responsibilities
Sales Support & Business Development
- Support senior sales and technical staff in identifying and developing new business opportunities.
- Assist in preparing quotations, proposals, and technical-commercial documents.
- Participate in client meetings, site visits, and technical discussions under supervision.
- Follow up on leads, inquiries, and client requests to support deal closure.
Technical & Application Support
- Understand Alpha Analytica’s analytical services, including routine and advanced laboratory techniques.
- Assist in explaining analytical methods, testing scopes, and reporting formats to clients.
- Support basic method selection and sample requirement clarification in collaboration with laboratory analysts.
- Stay updated on analytical standards, methods, and industry best practices.
Client Engagement & Relationship Building
- Build professional relationships with clients in industries such as environmental services, oil & gas, mining, manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, and academia.
- Act as a technical point of contact for basic client inquiries, escalating complex issues appropriately.
- Support customer satisfaction through timely communication and follow-up.
Market Research & Reporting
- Conduct market research on industries, laboratories, and competitors.
- Maintain accurate records of client interactions, leads, and opportunities.
- Prepare weekly activity and learning reports for review by supervisors.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree (or HND with strong distinction) in Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Biochemistry, Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering, or related scientific discipline.
- 0–2 years of work experience (NYSC candidates or recent graduates encouraged to apply).
- Strong academic foundation in analytical chemistry and laboratory techniques.
Technical Knowledge
- Familiarity with analytical techniques such as:
- UV-Visible Spectrophotometry
- Gas Chromatography (GC)
- High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC)
- Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS)
- ICP, FTIR, or basic wet chemistry methods
- Basic understanding of quality systems, calibration, and laboratory safety.
Required Skills & Attributes
- Strong scientific reasoning and curiosity.
- Willingness to learn sales, marketing, and client engagement skills.
- Good communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
- Confidence in interacting with professionals and clients.
- Organised, detail-oriented, and receptive to coaching.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Willingness to travel for client visits and training.
