Job summary

The General Manager - Logistics will oversee all logistics functions, drive fleet optimization, expand service offerings, and deliver cost-effective solutions for group companies and external clients. This role positions you to lead growth in agro-commodity logistics and beyond.

Job descriptions & requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement logistics strategies for transportation (trucks/vans), warehousing, and last-mile delivery of agro-products.
  • Drive business growth: Secure new contracts, enter markets (e.g., North/Central Nigeria, exports via Lagos/Apapa ports), and diversify into third-party logistics (3PL).
  • Enhance operational efficiency: Optimize routes, fleet maintenance, and technology (GPS/ERP for real-time tracking).
  • Achieve cost optimization through fuel management, vendor negotiations, and process automation.
  • Ensure compliance with Nigerian regulations (SON, NAFDAC for food, FMOT highway permits, and NEPC export logistics).
  • Build and manage a logistics team; set KPIs for drivers, warehouse staff, and dispatchers.
  • Oversee future expansions like commodity trading logistics and cold chain for Dodan Foods products.
  • Monitor metrics (OTD, cost per km), prepare reports for ED/MD, and mitigate risks (e.g., delays, theft).


Requirements:

  • HND/Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s/MBA + CILT/CIPS preferred).
  • 3–5 years of proven experience in a senior logistics/supply chain role within agribusiness, manufacturing, agro-commodities, or FMCG.
  • Track record in fleet management, cost reduction, and business development in Nigeria.
  • Strong knowledge of agro-logistics challenges (perishables, bulk commodities, rural routes, and forex for imports).
  • Proficiency in logistics software, MS Excel, and fleet telematics.
  • Leadership skills, negotiation prowess, and high integrity.
  • Willingness to be based in Suleja with occasional travel.
