Job descriptions & requirements

Location: Abuja, Nigeria (On-site / Hybrid)

Position Type: Full-Tim

Salary Range: 280- 350k

We are seeking a tech-savvy, highly organized Finance Manager to take full ownership of our corporate financial ecosystem. In this role, you will be the custodian of the company’s financial health handling everything from routine bookkeeping and smooth payroll cycles to strategic tax planning and regulatory compliance.

As the tax and fiscal landscape in Nigeria undergoes massive digital shifts, the ideal candidate must look past manual spreadsheets. We need someone highly competent in modern cloud accounting software, automated payroll platforms, and digital tax filing systems to ensure absolute transparency, speed, and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

1. Financial Operations & Bookkeeping

  • Daily Ledger Management: Maintain impeccable, real-time digital financial records, categorizing all corporate income, operational expenses, and cash flows.
  • Accounts Payable & Receivable: Process payments to vendors, track client invoicing schedules, follow up on outstanding receivables, and conduct weekly bank reconciliations.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare clear monthly profit-and-loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow forecasts to assist executive leadership in strategic decision-making.

2. Payroll & Staff Compensation

  • End-to-End Payroll: Manage the monthly staff payroll engine cleanly and on time.
  • Statutory Deductions: Accurately compute and deduct all mandatory employee statutory contributions, including the Pay-As-You-Earn (PAYE) tax, National Housing Fund (NHF), and pension remittances.
  • Expense Reimbursements: Verify, track, and disburse official staff expense claims and project mobilization funds according to company policy.

3. Tax Administration & Compliance

  • Modern Tax Compliance: Manage corporate tax computations, ensuring full alignment with the current Nigeria Tax Act frameworks (including tracking thresholds for Corporate Income Tax and the new 4% Development Levy).
  • Monthly Remittances: Direct the timely preparation, filing, and remittance of monthly Value Added Tax (VAT) and Withholding Tax (WHT) on the Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS / FIRS) portals.
  • WHT Certificate Tracking: Aggressively track and secure Withholding Tax credit certificates from clients to optimize the company's tax position.
  • Audit Readiness: Serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors and regulatory tax officials during routine assessments.

Technical Competencies & Tech Stack Requirements

The successful candidate must actively utilize modern financial technology. Competency or direct experience in the following areas is highly required:

  • Cloud Accounting Platforms: Proficiency in tools like QuickBooks Online, Zoho Books, Xero, or local AI-driven platforms like Tyms.
  • Digital Payroll & HRIS: Experience using automated payroll engines (e.g., SeamlessHR, Bento, or PaidHR) for automated statutory tax calculations.
  • Regulatory Portals: Direct, hands-on familiarity with navigating the NRS/FIRS Taxpromax portal and relevant State Internal Revenue electronic platforms for filing.
  • Advanced Analytics: Advanced command of Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets for building dynamic financial models and expense dashboards.

Required Profile & Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or HND in Accounting, Finance, or a highly quantitative discipline.
  • Professional Certification: ICAN or ACCA (attained or actively in progress) is a strong advantage.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years of solid corporate accounting experience, preferably within a fast-paced professional services, consulting, or technology firm.
  • Tax Knowledge: A sharp, updated understanding of contemporary Nigerian tax laws, progressive PAYE bands, and small/medium enterprise filing exemptions.
  • Soft Skills: High integrity, exceptional attention to detail, strong analytical reasoning, and the ability to communicate complex financial metrics in plain language to non-finance executives.
