Fibre Technical Lead
Job summary
The Fibre Technical Lead will be responsible for overseeing the design, deployment, testing, and maintenance of fibre optic network infrastructure. This role provides technical leadership to field technicians and engineers, ensuring that fibre installations meet quality, safety, and performance standards.

Responsibilities:
Technical Leadership:
- Lead and supervise fibre installation teams (splicing, testing, and commissioning).
- Provide technical guidance on fibre optic network design and implementation.
- Review and approve fibre network designs, route plans, and splicing diagrams.
- Ensure adherence to industry standards and company best practices.
Project Execution & Coordination:
- Collaborate with Project Managers to plan schedules, allocate resources, and monitor progress.
- Support scope definition and provide technical input during project planning.
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and according to quality standards.
- Identify and mitigate technical risks and field challenges.
Installation & Testing Oversight:
- Oversee fibre cable pulling, splicing, termination, and testing activities.
- Verify proper use of OTDR, power meters, fusion splicers, and other fibre tools.
- Ensure accurate documentation of test results and as-built drawings.
- Troubleshoot network faults and performance issues.
Quality Assurance & Compliance:
- Enforce safety standards and regulatory compliance.
- Conduct site inspections and quality audits.
- Ensure compliance with telecom industry standards (e.g., ITU, IEEE, TIA/EIA).
- Maintain proper documentation of installations and maintenance activities.
Stakeholder & Vendor Management:
- Serve as the technical point of contact for clients and contractors.
- Coordinate with vendors for materials, equipment, and technical support.
- Provide technical reports and progress updates to management.
Continuous Improvement:
- Recommend improvements to network design and deployment processes.
- Stay updated on emerging fibre technologies (FTTH, GPON, DWDM, etc.).
- Mentor and train junior technicians and engineers.
Requirements:
- Fibre Optic Association (FOA) Certification
- Certified Fibre Optic Technician (CFOT)
