Fibre Optic Project Manager

Responsibilities:

Project Planning & Execution

• Develop comprehensive project plans covering scope, timelines, budget, resources, and risk management strategies.
• Coordinate and oversee all phases of fibre optic network design, construction, and maintenance.
• Manage the end-to-end delivery of fibre optic installation, splicing, termination, testing, and documentation.
• Oversee all aspects of fibre optic installation projects, from overall strategic planning to designing the footprint, implementation, and closeout.

Team & Resource Management

• Supervise field engineers, technicians, and contractors working on fibre deployment.
• Assign responsibilities and monitor team performance to ensure quality and efficiency.
• Facilitate project meetings, progress reviews, and performance evaluations.

Quality Assurance & Compliance

• Ensure all installations adhere to company standards, safety regulations, and client specifications.
• Conduct inspections, audits, and acceptance tests (OTDR, power meter, continuity checks, etc.).
• Maintain updated project documentation and as-built drawings.

Budgeting & Reporting

• Prepare and monitor project budgets, forecasts, and cost control measures.
• Generate progress reports and communicate project status to management and stakeholders.
• Identify and mitigate risks, ensuring corrective measures are implemented promptly.

Stakeholder Management

• Serve as the main point of contact for clients, vendors, and regulatory bodies.
• Manage client expectations and ensure customer satisfaction throughout project execution.
• Negotiate contracts and manage procurement of fibre materials and network components.

Continuous Improvement

• Implement best practices in project delivery, leveraging PMP methodologies.
• Identify process improvements to enhance project efficiency and profitability.
• Train and mentor team members on fibre optic systems and project management principles.

Requirements:

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical / Electronics / Telecommunications / Civil Engineering or any related field.
• Certification: Project Management Professional (PMP) or PRINCE2 Certification or evidence of PM Training is mandatory.
• Experience: Minimum of 7–10 years of experience in fibre optic network deployment.
• Optic Fibre Training and certifications as applicable
• Proficiencywith Microsoft Office Programs & Microsoft Project
• Proven track record in managing large-scale fibre optic rollouts, long-distance backbone, or  (FTTH, FTTx, Metro Fibre).
• Strong knowledge of fibre optic technologies, network design, and construction methods.
• Proficiency in using OTDR, power meter, and fusion splicing equipment.
• Familiarity with GIS mapping, AutoCAD, and project scheduling software (MS Project, Primavera, etc.).
• Excellent understanding of PMP/ PRINCE-2  project management frameworks, budgeting, and risk management.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
