Job summary

The Fibre Operations Manager will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations, maintenance, and performance of fibre optic network infrastructure. This role ensures network reliability, service availability, and operational efficiency while leading technical teams and coordinating with cross-functional stakeholders.

Job descriptions & requirements

Responsibilities:

Operational Management:

  • Oversee daily fibre network operations and maintenance activities.
  • Ensure high network availability and performance standards.
  • Monitor KPIs, SLAs, and operational metrics.
  • Develop and implement operational processes and procedures.


Team Leadership:

  • Lead and manage fibre technicians, engineers, and support staff.
  • Allocate resources and manage shift schedules.
  • Provide coaching, training, and performance evaluations.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.

Network Maintenance & Reliability:

  • Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance programs.
  • Manage fault response, outage resolution, and escalation processes.
  • Ensure rapid troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
  • Coordinate emergency restoration activities when required.


Project & Stakeholder Coordination:

  • Collaborate with Project Managers and Engineering teams during new deployments and upgrades.
  • Ensure smooth transition from project implementation to operations.
  • Liaise with vendors, contractors, and service providers.
  • Provide operational reports to senior management.


Quality, Safety & Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with telecom industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct operational audits and safety inspections.
  • Maintain accurate operational documentation and reporting.


Budget & Performance Management:

  • Manage operational budgets and control costs.
  • Optimize resource utilization and operational efficiency.
  • Identify cost-saving and process improvement opportunities.


Requirements:

  • FOA / CFOT
  • PMP (advantageous)
  • OSHA or relevant safety certification
  • Minimum qualification of BSc.
  • 3 years of previous experience in a similar role
