A Farm Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising all farm operations to ensure efficient production, profitability, and sustainable use of resources. The role involves managing crops and/or livestock, overseeing farm workers, maintaining equipment, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards.
Job descriptions & requirements
- Plan and manage daily farm operations for crops and/or livestock
- Supervise farm workers and allocate duties effectively
- Develop planting, feeding, breeding, and harvesting schedules
- Monitor crop health, livestock welfare, and farm productivity
- Manage farm budgets, inputs, and operational costs
- Ensure proper use and maintenance of farm equipment and facilities
- Implement pest control, disease prevention, and biosecurity measures
- Maintain farm records, inventories, and production reports
- Ensure compliance with agricultural regulations, safety, and environmental standards
- Liaise with suppliers, buyers, and agricultural extension services
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, or related field
- 2–7 years’ practical farming or farm management experience
- Good knowledge of crop production and/or livestock management
- Strong leadership and people-management skills
- Basic financial, planning, and record-keeping skills
- Ability to work long hours and in outdoor environments
- Good problem-solving and decision-making abilities
