Job descriptions & requirements
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the maintenance, repair, and upkeep of school buildings, classrooms, boarding facilities, and grounds
- Manage electrical, plumbing, HVAC, generator, and water/borehole systems, coordinating with technicians and contractors as needed
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules to minimise disruptions and extend asset lifespan
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and fire regulations, including regular safety inspections and drills
- Supervise cleaning, security, gardening, and facilities support staff
- Manage vendor and contractor relationships, including procurement, quotations, and quality control of works
- Oversee the school's inventory of equipment, tools, and maintenance supplies
- Prepare and manage the facilities budget, tracking expenditure and identifying cost-saving opportunities
- Respond promptly to emergency repairs and facility-related incidents
- Support the planning and setup of school events, examinations, and special occasions
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs, asset registers, and compliance documentation
- Report regularly to the School Director on facility conditions, risks, and improvement plans
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or HND in Facilities Management, Building/Civil Engineering, Estate Management, or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in facilities or property management, preferably within a school or institutional setting
- Working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and general building systems
- Strong organisational, budgeting, and vendor management skills
- Sound knowledge of health, safety, and fire compliance standards
- Ability to respond calmly and effectively to emergencies
- Strong leadership and staff supervision skills
- Good communication skills and a professional, service-oriented approach
Remuneration: NGN 200,000 - 300,000
