Entertainment Lawyer

Job Type: Full-Time

Location: Victoria Island Lagos, Nigeria

Salary: ₦150,000 – ₦300,000 per month

Experience: 2–4 years

About the Role

Our client is seeking a knowledgeable and commercially minded Entertainment Lawyer to provide legal support across entertainment, media, talent, and creative industry activities. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of entertainment law and experience handling contracts, negotiations, intellectual property matters, and legal documentation.

You will work closely with artists, creatives, management teams, brands, and other stakeholders to protect legal interests, manage risk, and ensure transactions are properly structured.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, negotiate, and manage entertainment-related contracts and agreements.
  • Advise artists, creators, talent, management, and businesses on legal and commercial matters.
  • Handle agreements relating to talent management, endorsements, sponsorships, licensing, performances, appearances, and partnerships.
  • Provide guidance on copyright, trademarks, intellectual property, image rights, and content ownership.
  • Review contracts to identify potential legal and commercial risks.
  • Support contract negotiations and ensure favourable terms for clients.
  • Conduct legal research on entertainment, media, intellectual property, and commercial law.
  • Assist with dispute resolution and legal correspondence where necessary.
  • Ensure agreements and business activities comply with applicable Nigerian laws and regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records of contracts, legal documents, and ongoing matters.
  • Work with internal teams and external stakeholders to resolve legal issues efficiently.

Requirements

  • LL.B from a recognised university.
  • Must be called to the Nigerian Bar (BL).
  • 2–4 years of post-call legal experience, preferably in entertainment, media, intellectual property, commercial law, or a related practice area.
  • Strong knowledge of entertainment and intellectual property law.
  • Experience drafting and negotiating commercial and entertainment contracts.
  • Excellent legal research, writing, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify contractual risks.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with creative and business teams.
  • Good understanding of the Nigerian entertainment and creative industry is an advantage.
