Embedded Firmware & BMC Specialist
Job summary
The embedded firmware & BMC specialist owns the low-level firmware layer of the AfWS compute platform end-to-end. This person modifies OpenBMC device tree source files, programs cryptographic verification keys into write-once eFuse registers, operates the parallel out-of-band node flashing engine, and validates the automated A/B partition recovery.
Job descriptions & requirements
Responsibilities:
- Modify Rockchip RK3588 Open BMC device tree configuration files (.dts) to map GPIO pins and SPI/UART paths across the 48-slot chassis backplane
- Execute eFuse programming procedure
- Fusing ED25519 public key hashes into write-protected OTP memory banks using hardware JTAG interfaces
- Operate the parallel out-of-band (OOB) node flashing engine
- Managing simultaneous image deployments across all 48 nodes per chassis
- Configure and validate the automated A/B partition watchdog and boot recovery chain
- Monitor and log TSADC thermal sensor data from compute nodes to the BMC management interface
- Maintain version-controlled firmware repositories with clear change documentation.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Embedded Systems or related discipline
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on embedded systems or firmware engineering experience
- Practical experience with Linux kernel-level development device tree files kernel modules or driver compilation
- Demonstrable experience with JTAG/SWD hardware debugging interfaces
- Programming competence in C at the embedded/systems level, register manipulation memory management, hardware abstraction
- Familiarity with U-Boot bootloader configuration or OpenBMC firmware
Nice to Have:
- Direct OpenBMC device tree modification experience
- Experience with eFuse or OTP key programming on embedded processors
- Familiarity with cryptographic signing chains (ED25519 RSA) in secure boot contexts
- Experience with RISC-V or ARM SoC platforms GitHub portfolio of embedded or systems-level work essential for shortlisting
