We are seeking a skilled and experienced electrician to install, inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and test electrical systems, equipment, and components across the organization's facilities. The role ensures that all electrical installations and systems operate safely.

Job descriptions & requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Install, maintain, repair, and upgrade electrical wiring, circuits, fixtures, equipment, and distribution systems in accordance with approved standards and specifications.
  • Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical installations to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
  • Inspect electrical systems and equipment regularly to identify defects, wear, damage, or potential hazards.
  • Ensure all electrical works are performed in compliance with applicable regulations, safety standards, and organizational procedures.
  • Install and maintain lighting systems, power outlets, switches, circuit breakers, transformers, and control panels.
  • Conduct routine testing and inspection of electrical systems to ensure operational efficiency and safety.
  • Diagnose electrical faults using appropriate testing instruments and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Respond promptly to electrical breakdowns and emergencies to minimize operational disruptions.
  • Identify root causes of equipment failures and implement effective corrective actions.
  • Provide technical recommendations to improve system reliability and prevent recurring faults.
  • Operate, monitor, and maintain generators, Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS), electrical panels, and power distribution systems.
  • Monitor electrical load distribution and recommend improvements where necessary.
  • Adhere strictly to all health, safety, environmental, and electrical safety regulations.
  • Utilize appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while performing assigned duties.
  • Identify and report unsafe conditions and recommend corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, inspections, and testing results.
  • Report recurring faults, equipment deterioration, and major maintenance requirements to management.
  • Assist in maintaining electrical asset records and maintenance history documentation.
  • Monitor the availability of electrical tools, equipment, and spare parts.
  • Recommend procurement of materials required for maintenance and repair activities.
  • Ensure proper handling, storage, and accountability of electrical tools and equipment.
  • Participate in stock verification and inventory control exercises.
  • Collaborate with maintenance technicians, engineers, contractors, and other departments to achieve maintenance objectives.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to junior electricians and maintenance personnel when required.
  • Participate in emergency response activities and facility support operations.
  • Carry out any other duties assigned by management within the scope of the role.

 

Requirements:

  • National Diploma (ND), Higher National Diploma (HND), or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Installation, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 2 -3 years of practical experience in electrical installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience working in commercial buildings, industrial facilities, corporate environments, or facility management operations.
  • Demonstrated experience in maintaining generators, electrical panels, distribution systems, and facility electrical infrastructure.
  • Experience with preventive maintenance programs and electrical safety procedures.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of electrical installations, power distribution systems, generators, control panels, lighting systems, electrical motors, transformers, and associated equipment.
  • Ability to interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • strong ability to identify, analyze, and resolve electrical faults efficiently using appropriate testing instruments and diagnostic techniques while minimizing downtime and operational disruptions.
  • Thorough understanding of electrical safety regulations, industry standards, risk management practices, and safe work procedures. Demonstrates commitment to maintaining a safe working environment at all times.
  • Ability to assess technical challenges, determine root causes of failures, and implement effective and sustainable solutions that enhance system performance and reliability.
  • Demonstrates a high level of accuracy and thoroughness in inspections, installations, repairs, testing, and documentation to ensure quality workmanship and regulatory compliance.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, colleagues, contractors, and clients while maintaining positive working relationships and contributing to team objectives.
  • Demonstrates integrity, accountability, dependability, and a strong commitment to delivering quality service while maintaining professional conduct at all times.
