Director of Creative Writing Program
Job summary
We are launching a creative writing school for children and young teens (children & young authors)—a pioneering initiative designed to identify, nurture, and develop young writers into confident storytellers and future authors. The programme serves children who show a natural love for writing, imagination, and storytelling.

Responsibilities:
Program Leadership & Vision:
- Design and lead a structured Creative Writing curriculum for children aged 7–16
- Establish clear learning pathways (Beginner → Intermediate → Young Author)
- Set the tone, culture, and creative philosophy of the programme.
- Align writing instruction with character education values such as courage, honesty, empathy, creativity, and self-expression
Curriculum & Content Development:
- Develop term-based and holiday-based writing programmes.
- Create engaging lesson plans covering storytelling & imagination, character development, plot & structure, poetry & creative expression, editing and revision and introduction to publishing.
- Design age-appropriate writing exercises, prompts, and projects
- Oversee the production of student works (anthologies, story collections, showcases)
Teaching & Facilitation:
- Facilitate advanced or flagship creative writing sessions
- Guide young writers through the full writing process—from idea to polished piece
- Identify gifted writers and provide targeted mentorship
- Foster a safe, joyful, and inspiring creative environment
Team Leadership:
- Recruit, train, and supervise Creative Writing Facilitators (as the program grows)
- Ensure quality and consistency across all classes
- Provide mentorship and feedback to teaching staff
Parent & Community Engagement:
- Communicate program goals, progress, and outcomes clearly to parents
- Participate in parent meetings, showcases, and reading events
- Contribute to promotional content showcasing student achievements
- Serve as a public ambassador for the Creative Writing Program
Program Growth & Innovation:
- Propose new initiatives such as writing competitions, Author talks, Publishing projects and Holiday writing camps
- Support strategic expansion of the program beyond the pilot phase
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a creative writer (published books, short stories, poetry, scripts, blogs, or equivalent)
- Demonstrated experience teaching or mentoring children or teenagers
- Strong understanding of storytelling, narrative craft, and creative expression
- Ability to design and structure educational programs
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
