Job summary
The Diction Teacher is responsible for teaching pupils correct pronunciation, speech clarity, voice projection, and public speaking skills. The teacher will help students develop a neutral Nigerian/British/American accent, improve reading fluency, and build confidence in speaking for assembly, debates, and presentations.

Job descriptions & requirements
Responsibilities:
Teaching & Training:
- Teach correct pronunciation of English words using phonetics and phonology
- Conduct diction, elocution, and oratory classes for Nursery to Primary 6
- Train pupils on proper intonation, stress, rhythm, and articulation
- Prepare and deliver weekly lesson notes, speech drills, tongue-twisters, and poems
- Correct speech defects like lisping, mumbling, and mother-tongue interference
Public Speaking & Performance:
- Coach pupils for assembly announcements, debates, spelling bee, and drama
- Prepare students for external competitions and inter-school elocution contests
- Organize speech/presentation days and graduation speeches
Assessment & Progress Tracking:
- Assess each pupil’s speaking ability and keep progress records
- Give feedback to class teachers and parents on areas of improvement
- Record audio/video samples to track improvement termly
Collaboration:
- Work with English and Phonics teachers to align lessons
- Support teachers on how to correct pupils' pronunciation in class
- Create diction corners, word walls, and speaking activities for the school
Requirements:
- A minimum of an NCE in English, Linguistics, Communication, or Theatre Arts
- A minimum of 2 years of experience
