Job Description

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • The assistant principal will work directly with the principal as an executive force on innovations, change, academic excellence and school activities
  • Responsible for leadership of all aspects of student experience, as well as inspiring the educators to deliver outstanding and life-enhancing care and education
  • Play a full role in the life of the school upholding and enhancing its ethos and values
  • To observe teaching and learning, monitoring educator’s knowledge and subject delivery, setting of homework and marking
  • To teach and model excellence in the classroom, leading the development of colleagues at all levels
  • Monitor and evaluate standards with the principal in all areas of responsibilities of the primary school.
  • To support the principal on strategy, working with a team to balance care, education initiatives, delivering a multi-disciplinary approach that maintains a fun and nurturing environment
  • Plan, direct and monitor instructional methods and content of academic and co-curricular activities in the primary school
  • Examine and evaluate new and current programs to determine their efficiency, effectiveness and compliance and advise on any necessary modifications
  • Collect and analyse survey data, regulatory information, and demography trend to predict enrollment patterns and educational needs of students; identify priorities for improvement
  • Along with the principal, take responsibility for safeguarding, student culture and behavior, curriculum and educators’ development
  • Deputize for the principal when required


JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • An enthusiastic, energetic, ambitious, and smart school leader with a resounding track record of success in the primary school
  • BSc / BSc Ed/PGDE/ M. Ed in administration, psychology, curriculum planning
  • At least twelve (12) years’ experience of leading, coaching and managing a dynamic workforce in the educational sector, six of which must be in a strategic leadership position
  • Quality exposure to British and Nigerian curricula at the primary school level
  • An evidence of continually improving the culture and behavior of students.
  • An experience of raising attainment in a challenging learning environment.
  • A record of past accomplishments and experience in collaborating with various stakeholders to accomplish school goal
  • An experience developing positive relationships with colleagues, staff members, parents, and students
  • Outstanding knowledge and experience of senior leadership within primary school setting
  • A thorough understanding of the current and changing educational landscape.
  • Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum design, teaching and learning of students
  • Understanding the needs and motivations of young people
  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership technique and co-ordination of people and resources
  • Knowledge of human behavior and performance; personality and interests, learning and motivation, and individual differences in ability
  • Proficient in the use of ICT for management of data, use in teaching and learning, as well as ability to work effectively with all Microsoft office suites, such as Word, Excel, power-point
  • Proven track record in the delivery of an outstanding student experience
  • Proficient in the use of virtual communication tools, Microsoft and Google suite
  • A professional role model for all students and educators in attitude, demeanor, and appearance
  • Excellent oral and written communication
  • Proven expertise in organisational time-management, interpersonal and good working relationship skills ensuring all targets are met
  • An approachable, personable individual with a good sense of humor
  • A flexible, adaptable, decisive individual with a great attention to details
  • Ability to establish and develop excellent relationships with the community and other stakeholders
  • Ability to develop children to reach their full potential regardless of background or circumstances
  • Experience of supporting and implementing change
  • Ability to create a safe, happy, and successful environment
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
