Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role located in Abijo for a Deputy Head of School. The Deputy Head of School will be responsible for assisting the Head of School in leading the Primary school and maintaining high academic, behavioural, and operational standards as well as the highest degree of educational standards and discipline in line with defined objectives of the Corona Schools Trust Council


Key Responsibilities:

Supervision and Compliance:

·      Cascade Corona School Vision and objectives to staff.

·      Conduct orientation and school introduction for new staff.

·      Ensure that staff are aware of Corona Schools’ standards and ensure compliance by all teaching and administrative staff to defined standards including:

·      Instructional methods

·      Resources and teaching aids

·      Testing

·      Monitor (individual) teacher and class activity to confirm adherence to approved teaching scheme and plans for each class and ensure that teaching activity is in line with the defined plan for each period.

·      Provide input into the assessment of class and subject teacher performance including identification of training needs.

·      Resolve staff issues that arise and escalate promptly to the Head of School if necessary.


Administration

·      Assist the Head of School to oversee administration including management of all school facilities and infrastructure. Ensure they are optimally utilized and properly maintained.

·      Ensure that school premises including classrooms, grounds, toilets and all other areas are kept at an acceptable level of cleanliness, neatness and aesthetic attractiveness.


Parents Liaison

·      Cultivate relationships and maintain contact on an ongoing basis with parents to ensure involvement and participation of parents in the teaching of their children.

·      Attend all PTA activities and participate as a member in all committees.


Discipline

·      Determine and apply appropriate discipline for misdemeanors both for staff and pupils.


Testing and Examination

·      Ensure that the primary school tests and examinations are properly conducted, graded and reported.


Reporting

·      Prepare and present as appropriate School reports to the Head of School.


Required Qualifications and Skills:

·      Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field (e.g., B.Ed, B.A/B.Sc + PGDE)

·      Master’s degree in Education, Educational Leadership, or a related discipline is an advantage.

·      Relevant teaching qualifications (TRCN etc).

·    A minimum of the second-class lower division.

·      Minimum of 7–10 years’ teaching experience in a reputable school with at least 3–5 years in a leadership or supervisory role (e.g. Sectional Head, HOD, Academic Coordinator, Year Tutor etc)

·      Experience in student discipline management and duty of care.

·      Demonstrated involvement in school administration and operations


Key Attributes:

·      Experience in lesson observation, teacher evaluation, and instructional coaching

·      Knowledge of assessment systems, examinations, and academic reporting

·      Familiarity with school policies, safeguarding, and compliance standards

·      Proficiency in Microsoft Office and school management systems

·      Strong leadership and people management skills

·      Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

·      High level of integrity, professionalism, and accountability

·      Ability to manage conflict, enforce discipline, and make sound decisions

·      Organised, proactive, and results-oriented

· Ability to build strong relationships with parents, staff, and stakeholders
