Job summary
VIVANDI Management Services Ltd is recruiting on behalf of a reputable and forward-looking Oil & Gas company. The community health manager will provide operational leadership and management oversight for community health programmes, ensuring alignment with enterprise health strategy and governance set by the general manager, health. The role is accountable for translating strategy into effective, compliant and sustainable community health interventions that protect license-to-operate, improve community health outcomes and support business objectives
Job descriptions & requirements
- Translate enterprise health strategy and governance requirements into actionable community health plans and annual work programmes.
- Manage and oversee design, implementation and evaluation of community health and social investment initiatives aligned to national policies and WHO frameworks.
- Provide operational leadership for Health Impact Assessments (HIA) mitigation actions and integration with Environmental and Social Management Plans.
- Ensure supported health facilities and programmes comply with agreed standards, SOPs, monitoring and quality improvement requirements.
- Oversee performance, budgets and delivery of community health programmes in line with approved plans and delegated authority.
- Supervise and develop community health team capability, providing technical guidance, coaching and performance management.
- Engage and maintain effective relationships with external stakeholders to ensure sustainability, value-for-investment and positive social performance.
- Monitor health indicators and outcomes in host communities and report performance, risks and improvement actions to the GM Health.
- Support emergency response and crisis management in communities in coordination with enterprise Health and HSSE leadership.
- Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree from a reputable institution.
- Minimum 15 years post-graduation experience, including at least 5 years following attainment of a recognized Public Health fellowship (FMCPH/FWACP or equivalent).
- A Master of Public Health (MPH) is an added advantage.
- Scope: Delivery and management of Community Health programmes including public health interventions, social investment health initiatives, supported facilities, health impact mitigation and sustainability activities across host communities.
- Team: Direct supervision of Public Health Adviser(s), nurses and community health specialists; oversight of contractors and implementing partners.
- Stakeholders: Internal Health leadership; Community Relations; HSSE; Business/Asset teams.
- External: Government health authorities, NGOs, CBOs, multilateral partners and host communities
- Analytical and detail-oriented problem-solving skills with strong written and verbal communication capability.
- Knowledge of health planning, research, monitoring, evaluation, reporting and publication
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with experience supervising multidisciplinary teams.
- Demonstrated experience in planning, designing and managing community and public health programmes.
- Experience in managing projects, MOUs/SLAs, grants, contractors and supported health facilities.
- Extensive experience engaging with government authorities, NGOs, partners and host communities.
- Valid practicing license with relevant professional bodies and evidence of continuous professional development.
- Experience delivering social investment health programmes in complex operating environments; oil and gas sector experience is an advantage.
- Good presentation, report-writing and proposal development skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
