An Emergency Health-Based NGO Operating Within Kubwa Axis of Abuja is Sourcing for Community Health Extension Workers (Intern)(CHEW).
Job descriptions & requirements
Responsibilities:
- Preventive Care & Health Education: CHEWs conduct house-to-house visits and community workshops to educate families on hygiene, sanitation, proper nutrition, and disease prevention.
- Maternal & Child Health: They provide antenatal care, assist with basic labor and delivery, conduct postnatal checkups, and administer childhood immunizations.
- Basic Curative Care: Trained to use standardized standing orders, they assess patients, treat minor illnesses (like malaria and diarrhea), and dispense essential medications.
- Family Planning: They provide counseling and distribute family planning commodities to interested individuals.
- Referral Systems: CHEWs recognize complex health conditions and coordinate with primary health centers or hospitals by safely referring patients for advanced medical care.
Requirements:
- The candidate should possess relevant qualifications from a recognized Government institution and be licensed by the Community Health Board of Nigeria
- Prior experience working as CHEW
- 1+ years of experience in a similar role.
Remuneration: NGN 70,000
