Mathematics Teacher

Responsibilities:

• Teach Mathematics at the Cambridge Lower Secondary level.
• Assess mathematical ability and identify specific learning gaps.
• Develop learning and intervention plans based on assessment results.
• Strengthen foundational skills in number, arithmetic, fractions, decimals, percentages, ratio, algebra, geometry, measurement, statistics, and problem solving.
• Help children develop mathematical reasoning and confidence rather than relying solely on memorised methods.
• Prepare structured lessons, exercises, assessments, and revision activities.
• Monitor progress, showing the skills each child has mastered and areas requiring further intervention
• Prepare children to progress successfully through Cambridge Lower Secondary Mathematics and towards Cambridge Checkpoint expectations.
• Provide regular feedback on each child's progress.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Education, or a related discipline.
• Demonstrable experience teaching Cambridge Lower Secondary Mathematics.
• Good knowledge of the Cambridge Mathematics curriculum and progression expectations.
• Experience preparing students for Cambridge Lower Secondary Checkpoint Mathematics would be an advantage.
• Strong diagnostic teaching skills and the ability to identify underlying gaps in mathematical understanding.
• Experience providing remedial or intervention-based mathematics teaching.
• Ability to explain mathematical concepts clearly and in different ways when a child does not initially understand.
• Patient, encouraging, and comfortable working with children whose mathematical attainment may be below their chronological age or school year.
• Ability to use children's progress data to determine what should be taught next.
