Compensation

  • Salary: ₦500,000 – ₦800,000
  • Incentives: Performance-Based Commission

Job Summary
We are seeking a commercially driven Business Development Officer to drive revenue growth and expand market presence across Nigeria.
The role is responsible for identifying new business opportunities, managing client relationships, executing import and sales operations, and ensuring seamless contract delivery. The ideal candidate is highly relationship-oriented, possesses strong market intelligence capabilities, and has a proven ability to deliver sustainable business growth.
Key Responsibilities
1. Business & General Management

  • Support the development and execution of annual business plans and sales strategies
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, and operational procedures
  • Develop and manage budgets, ensuring cost control and profitability
  • Provide strategic insights on market opportunities and operational improvements

2. Risk & Credit Management

  • Support implementation of sales risk management frameworks
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate commercial and financial risks
  • Monitor client creditworthiness and manage credit exposure
  • Maintain proactive communication with management on market and risk developments
  • Advise clients on risk management strategies where applicable

3. Commercial Strategy & Business Development

  • Develop and execute sales strategies for assigned product categories
  • Identify, prospect, and onboard new clients
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing customers
  • Conduct regular client visits, meetings, and engagement activities
  • Represent the company at trade shows, industry events, and seminars
  • Drive revenue growth through strategic partnerships

4. Import, Supply Chain & Execution

  • Coordinate import processes to ensure timely and efficient product delivery
  • Manage stock allocation and oversee sales execution
  • Ensure adherence to client specifications on quality, packaging, and timelines
  • Liaise with internal and international teams to ensure product availability
  • Monitor contract execution and ensure accurate documentation

5. Market Intelligence & Reporting

  • Conduct market research on demand trends, pricing, and competitor activity
  • Track and report sales performance, volumes, and market share
  • Monitor regulatory changes affecting importation and trade
  • Provide timely reports and actionable insights to management

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Revenue growth and achievement of sales targets
  • Client acquisition and retention rates
  • Efficiency of import and delivery execution
  • Effectiveness of risk and credit management
  • Accuracy and timeliness of market intelligence reporting

Experience
Requirements & Qualifications

  • Minimum of 7+ years' experience in sales or business development
  • Experience within FMCG, food ingredients, or commodity trading is strongly preferred

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Economics, Supply Chain, or a related field

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong business development, negotiation, and closing skills
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
  • Proven ability to build and sustain client relationships
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of import/export processes and supply chain operations
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and accountability
