Job summary
The Business Development Officer will identify and secure new business opportunities, expand the customer base, strengthen client relationships, and drive revenue growth through strategic partnerships across the education and publishing ecosystem.

Responsibilities:
Business Development & Sales:
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities to grow revenue and market share.
- Prospect and acquire retail, wholesale, institutional, and corporate clients.
- Develop and execute sales strategies to meet assigned revenue targets.
- Generate leads through networking, referrals, events, and direct outreach.
- Prepare and deliver compelling sales presentations and proposals.
Client Relationship Management:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective clients.
- Serve as primary contact for key accounts and strategic partners.
- Conduct regular client visits to identify needs and upselling opportunities.
- Ensure high customer satisfaction through proactive engagement and issue resolution.
Market Expansion & Performance:
- Develop strategies to grow the organization's presence across Nigeria and neighboring countries.
- Explore opportunities with schools, universities, libraries, NGOs, and government agencies.
- Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets; track KPIs.
- Prepare sales forecasts, activity reports, and market intelligence updates.
- Represent the company at exhibitions, book fairs, and industry conferences
- Experience in publishing, education, retail distribution, or FMCG is an added advantage.
Requirements:
- A minimum of 4 years of experience
- A minimum of an HND in a related field
- Sales strategy development
- Negotiation and closing skills.
- Customer relationship management (CRM) and market research.
- Excellent communication
- Presentation and proposal writing skills.
- Result-oriented, target-driven, with strong commercial awareness.
- Proficiency in
Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to work independently and in a team.
- Excellent networking abilities.
Key performance indicators:
- Achievement of monthly and annual sales targets.
- Number of new accounts acquired and customer retention rate.
- Revenue generated from new and existing clients.
- Number of clients visited and market expansion initiatives implemented.
- Lead conversion rate.
- Timely submission of BD reports.
