Memfys Hospital, Africa's first and only specialist neurosurgical hospital, is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Biomedical Engineer to join our growing team in Enugu, Nigeria.
⚙️ About the Role
As our Biomedical Engineer, you will be the backbone of our technical operations, ensuring that our sophisticated medical equipment remains safe, functional, and compliant at all times. You will work closely with clinical, radiology, and ICU teams to support the delivery of world-class patient care.

• GE Signa Explorer 1.5 Tesla MRI (16-Channel) & Basda BTI 0.35T Open MRI
• Phillips Brilliance 256-Slice CT Scanner (latest acquisition), Phillips Brilliance 64-Slice CT Scanner & GE 16-Slice Revolution ACTs
• GE Vivid IQ 4D Ultrasound Machine
• Siemens Mobile Digital X-Ray
• Digital EEG Machine
• Advanced ICU ventilators, monitors, infusion & syringe pumps
• Zeiss Pentero 900 Operating Microscope
- Fluoroscopy C-arm system
• Advanced anaesthetic machines and high-speed surgical drills
• ACLS Ambulance with life support equipment
🔧 Key Responsibilities:
• Perform routine maintenance, calibration, inspection, and repair of all biomedical and imaging equipment
• Develop and implement a preventive maintenance schedule across all departments
• Troubleshoot equipment faults and coordinate with OEM vendors and technical support teams for resolution
• Ensure all equipment meets safety, regulatory, and manufacturer standards
• Maintain accurate documentation of all maintenance activities, equipment logs, and service records
• Oversee the installation, commissioning, and testing of newly acquired medical devices
• Train clinical and support staff on safe and correct equipment usage
• Conduct risk assessments and manage equipment-related incidents and recalls
• Liaise with procurement on spare parts, consumables, and equipment upgrades
• Support compliance with standards set by relevant Nigerian and international regulatory bodies
• Provide technical input during the procurement of new medical technologies
✅ Qualifications & Requirements:
• B.Sc. or B.Eng. in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, or a closely related field
• Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience maintaining clinical or diagnostic medical equipment
• Demonstrable experience with MRI, CT, ultrasound, or other advanced imaging systems is a strong advantage
• Proficiency in reading technical manuals, schematics, and equipment documentation
• Strong analytical and fault-diagnosis skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration
• Ability to work independently and under pressure in a fast-paced clinical environment
• Membership of the Nigerian Society of Biomedical Engineers (NSBE) or a relevant professional body is an advantage
• Postgraduate qualification or vendor-specific equipment certification is an added advantage
