Backend Software Engineer

Responsibilities:

• Design and build RESTful APIs and backend services for GOCLIMS (tenant portal) and SteadGrid (NOC system)
• Integrate with the HASIP MQTT broker (EMQX) to consume and process real-time telemetry from servers and IoT devices
• Build and maintain the FLOPSFlex compute flexibility exchange backend, including billing engine, session management, and settlement logic
• Design and implement authentication, authorisation, and role-based access control across all platform services
• Build data pipelines that aggregate, store, and serve telemetry data from 48-node server chassis to dashboards and billing systems
• Write clean, tested, well-documented code — unit tests and integration tests are mandatory, not optional
• Collaborate closely with the frontend engineer and the external firmware specialist (Filip Milev, Sofia) on API contracts

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related discipline
• Minimum 3 years of backend software engineering experience in a production environment
• Strong proficiency in Python (primary) and at least one of: Node.js, Go, or Java
• Direct experience building and consuming RESTful APIs and WebSocket connections
• Experience with message brokers — MQTT (EMQX or Mosquitto), RabbitMQ, or Kafka
• Solid understanding of relational databases (PostgreSQL preferred) and time-series data storage
• Experience with Docker and containerised deployments.
