AWS Architect, Trilogy (Remote) - $100,000/year USD
Job descriptions & requirements
You're the engineer who maintains uptime for 50+ SaaS products when nobody else has the blueprint. We need DevOps professionals who can step into unknown AWS environments, restore stability, and drive availability beyond 99.9% using proper monitoring, automation, and root-cause analysis. You'll break down complex projects into single-day deliverables, deploy production-quality Python or JavaScript code, and leverage AI as a force multiplier.
While most organizations talk about "the cloud" while nursing fragile systems, we're scaling reliability across dozens of acquired products where original developers have departed and documentation is incomplete. The challenge: you'll employ agents and contemporary tooling to explore unfamiliar systems 5–10x faster, document your findings, and automate solutions to prevent recurrence. Rather than judging you on certifications and vendor logos, we'll observe how you troubleshoot in real time, author a genuine 5-Whys analysis that identifies one preventable root cause, and construct automations that withstand production conditions.
This is not an L2 "execute the runbook" position. Here, you author the runbooks, architect the deployment path from dev through staged to 10% to 100% with soak periods and rollback triggers, and create the monitors that detect edge cases. You reject risky changes before deployment. You distinguish infrastructure failures you own from application bugs Engineering owns, and you route permanent fixes to the appropriate team.
You'll operate at the engineering center of reliability, leading infrastructure projects, incident response and root-cause analyses, and change requests with copy-paste-executable runbooks. If you've already managed a substantial SaaS product and want to apply that discipline across a fleet, join us. Bring expert-level AWS knowledge, production-grade development skills, rigorous scope discipline, and daily, essential use of AI tooling. If you're prepared to maintain operational excellence, please apply.
What You Will Be Doing
- Advanced infrastructure migrations, consolidations, production-quality automations, and monitoring implementations
- Triaging live outages, deploying immediate remediation, and authoring root cause analyses with permanent fixes routed to the owning teams
- Authoring, reviewing, and deploying production changes, including assessing whether a proposed change can be executed safely
What You Won’t Be Doing
- Spending time in Jira and continuous status meetings - we value contributors who can deliver solutions, not merely document problems
- Supporting legacy systems indefinitely - you'll be authorized to implement substantive improvements
- Waiting on bureaucratic approval chains - you'll hold the authority to deploy immediate fixes during incidents
AWS Architect Key Responsibilities
- Lead reliability and standardization of cloud infrastructure across our expanding product portfolio by deploying comprehensive monitoring, automation, and AWS best practices.
Basic Requirements
- Deep AWS infrastructure expertise (this is our primary platform - other cloud experience alone won't cut it)
- Experience owning large production infrastructure and troubleshooting production outages independently (not just following a runbook)
- Experience scripting with Python and Bash for day-to-day administration operations
- Experience managing and migrating production databases with multiple engines (including MySql, Postgres, Oracle, MS-SQL)
- Experience with infrastructure automation (Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation)
- Linux systems administration expertise
