Job summary
Saved2Save International is seeking a compassionate, emotionally grounded, and clinically structured Addiction Recovery Counsellor to deliver the Saved2Save recovery programme.

Responsibilities:
Therapeutic Support:
- Deliver structured one-to-one counselling sessions across different stages of recovery
- Facilitate weekly recovery groups using the Saved2Save curriculum
- Support participants in identifying triggers, behavioural patterns, emotional difficulties, and relapse risks
- Adapt interventions based on participant readiness, emotional needs, and stage of change
- Support participants in developing practical coping strategies, accountability systems, and relapse prevention plans
- Maintain a safe, non-judgmental, and emotionally supportive therapeutic environment
Clinical Practice & Documentation:
- Conduct participant assessments using tools such as CORE-10 and the Readiness to Change Questionnaire (RCQ)\
- Maintain timely, accurate, and confidential clinical documentation in line with organisational and ethical standards
- Complete session notes, risk assessments, safeguarding reports, and participant progress documentation
- Participate in case discussions, supervision, and programme reviews where required
Safeguarding & Risk Management:
- Identify safeguarding concerns and escalate appropriately in line with organisational procedures
- Respond appropriately to participants presenting in emotional distress, relapse crisis, or elevated risk situations
- Maintain professional boundaries and ethical standards at all times
- Work collaboratively with leadership regarding participant welfare and risk concerns
Faith Integration:
- Integrate Christian spiritual principles appropriately and ethically within counselling work
- Use prayer, scripture, encouragement, and spiritual accountability in a way that supports — rather than replaces — structured therapeutic intervention
- Work respectfully with participants at varying levels of faith, readiness, and spiritual maturity
Requirements:
- Degree in Counselling or Psychology
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in counselling, mental health support, addiction recovery, or behavioural support work
- Experience facilitating both individual and group interventions
- Working knowledge of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) frameworks and techniques
- Strong understanding of safeguarding, confidentiality, and professional boundaries
- Ability to balance empathy with accountability in recovery work
- Strong emotional maturity and the ability to work within emotionally demanding environments
- Excellent communication, listening, and interpersonal skills
- Strong, active Christian faith, with the ability to integrate Biblical principles appropriately within therapeutic work
- Ability to work respectfully with individuals from different backgrounds and levels of spiritual engagement
- Emotional steadiness and maturity

Desirable Experience:
- Experience working within addiction recovery or behavioural addiction services
- Training or experience in Motivational Interviewing and/or the Stages of Change model
- Experience within a faith-based, church-led, or non-profit recovery environment
- Experience supporting young adults or vulnerable populations
- Lived experience of recovery with clear professional boundaries and emotional stability
- Understanding of the Lagos community context, particularly Lekki and the surrounding areas
Commitment & Expectations:
- Weekly delivery of one-to-one counselling sessions
- Facilitation of weekly recovery group sessions
- Session preparation and participant follow-up
- Timely completion of documentation and reports
- Participation in team meetings and case discussions
- Mandatory monthly external clinical supervision (minimum one hour)
- Ongoing participation in internal training and programme development
