The Accounting Intern Officer is responsible for supporting the day-to-day financial and accounting operations of the organization. The role involves maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, preparing reports, reconciling accounts, ensuring compliance with financial policies, and assisting with budgeting and audits.

Job descriptions & requirements

NOTE: THIS POSITION IS LOCATED IN EGBEDA LAGOS
Responsibilities:

Financial Record Keeping:

  • Record daily financial transactions accurately.
  • Maintain proper accounting records and filing systems.
  • Prepare journals, ledgers, and financial documentation.


Accounts Payable & Receivable:

  • Process supplier invoices and payments.
  • Monitor customer payments and follow up on outstanding balances.
  • Reconcile customer and vendor accounts.


Bank & Cash Management:

  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Manage petty cash and ensure proper documentation.
  • Monitor cash inflows and outflows.


Payroll Support:

  • Assist in preparing monthly payroll.
  • Verify payroll records and employee deductions.
  • Maintain confidentiality of payroll information.


Financial Reporting:

  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly financial reports.
  • Assist in preparing management accounts.
  • Support month-end and year-end closing activities.


Tax & Compliance:

  • Assist with tax computations and statutory remittances (PAYE, Pension, NHF, NSITF, VAT, WHT, etc.).
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies.


Audit Support:

  • Prepare documents required for internal and external audits.
  • Assist in responding to audit queries.


Budgeting & Cost Control:

  • Support budget preparation and monitoring.
  • Track departmental expenses against approved budgets.
  • Assist in identifying cost-saving opportunities.


Administrative Duties:

  • Maintain confidentiality of financial information.
  • Organize financial records and accounting documents.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the Finance Manager.


Requirements:

  • Minimum of a BSC
  • 1 year of previous experience in a similar role
