Job descriptions & requirements
Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate financial records and accounting documentation
- Prepare and review financial reports and statements
- Monitor income, expenses, payments, and other financial transactions
- Reconcile accounts and ensure accuracy of financial records, etc
- Handle all of our financial operations
- Inventory valuation and control — pharmacies carry high-value, perishable (expiry-sensitive) stock, so the accountant tracks cost of goods sold (COGS), shrinkage, wastage, and expired-drug write-offs
- Insurance and third-party billing reconciliation — matching claims submitted to insurers/PBMs (Pharmacy Benefit Managers) against actual reimbursements received, and following up on discrepancies or denied claims
- Regulatory compliance — ensuring financial records meet requirements from bodies overseeing pharmaceutical retail (tax authorities, health regulators, controlled-substance reporting where relevant)
Requirements:
- Minimum qualification of a BSC
- 2 years of previous experience in a similar role
