Accountant

Responsibilities:

Financial Management

• Manage and oversee the school's financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, policies, and regulations.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for school management and stakeholders.

Accounts Payable and Receivable

• Process invoices, payments, and receipts accurately and timely.
• Reconcile accounts payable and receivable ledgers.
• Monitor outstanding balances and follow up on overdue payments.

Payroll Administration

• Prepare and process monthly payroll for school staff.
  
• Ensure accurate calculation of salaries, deductions, and benefits.
• Maintain payroll records and resolve any payroll-related issues.

Budgeting and Forecasting

• Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and financial forecasts.
• Monitor budget performance and provide variance analysis.
• Recommend budget adjustments based on financial trends and school needs.

Financial Analysis

• Analyze financial data to identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for cost savings.
• Provide insights and recommendations to school management for improving financial performance.

Audit and Compliance

• Coordinate with external auditors for annual audits and reviews.
• Ensure compliance with tax laws, regulatory requirements, and internal policies.
• Implement internal controls to safeguard school assets and prevent fraud.

Asset Management

• Maintain fixed asset register and track depreciation.
• Conduct periodic asset audits and reconcile with accounting records.
• Assist in procurement processes and ensure proper asset documentation.

Financial Planning and Strategy

• Collaborate with school management to develop financial strategies and plans.
• Provide financial analysis and support for decision-making processes.
• Identify opportunities for revenue generation and cost optimization.

Stakeholder Communication

• Communicate financial information and updates to school management, board members, and other stakeholders.
• Respond to financial inquiries and provide clarifications as needed.
• Build and maintain relationships with external financial partners, such as banks and vendors.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting & Finance
• Proven experience as an accountant or financial manager in an educational setting is preferred.
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Knowledge of education sector regulations and funding mechanisms is a plus.
• Professional certification (e.g., CPA, ACCA) is a plus.
