Accountant

Responsibilities:

Financial Management:

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records and accounting books.
• Record daily financial transactions, including income, expenses, payments, and receipts.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
• Monitor cash flow and ensure effective financial management.
• Reconcile bank statements and company accounts regularly.

Budgeting and Financial Planning:

• Assist in preparing annual budgets and financial forecasts.
• Monitor departmental expenditures against approved budgets.
• Provide financial analysis and recommendations to management.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and support financial planning initiatives.

Accounts Payable and Receivable:

• Process invoices, payments, and reimbursements promptly.
• Monitor outstanding receivables and follow up on overdue payments.
• Maintain accurate records of creditors and debtors.
• Ensure timely settlement of financial obligations.

Tax and Regulatory Compliance:

• Prepare and file tax returns in accordance with applicable regulations.
• Ensure compliance with financial policies, accounting standards, and statutory requirements.
• Maintain records required for audits and regulatory inspections.
• Liaise with auditors, tax authorities, and other regulatory bodies when necessary.

Payroll Administration:

• Prepare and process employee payroll accurately and on schedule.
• Calculate salaries, deductions, allowances, commissions, and benefits.
• Maintain payroll records and ensure confidentiality of employee financial information.

Reporting and Analysis:

• Generate financial reports for management review and decision-making.
• Analyze financial data and identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
• Prepare profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports.
• Present financial findings and recommendations to management when required.

Internal Controls and Audit Support:

• Implement and maintain internal financial controls.
• Monitor financial processes to prevent fraud, errors, and misappropriation of funds.
• Support internal and external audit exercises.
• Ensure proper documentation and record retention practices.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree or HND in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
• Professional certification such as ICAN, ACCA, ANAN, or equivalent is an added advantage.
• Relevant accounting or finance experience.
