Job summary
We are seeking to to hire a competent and experienced Senior Accountant to oversee its financial operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, regulatory compliance, internal controls, and financial transparency across all business unit
Job descriptions & requirements
Responsibilities:
Financial Management and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records across all business units.
- Prepare monthly management accounts and periodic financial statements.
- Produce quarterly and annual financial reports.
- Conduct financial analysis and variance reporting for management review.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Lead annual budgeting and periodic forecasting processes.
- Monitor budget performance and recommend corrective actions.
- Support financial planning and cost optimization initiatives.
Compliance & Tax Management:
- Ensure compliance with Nigerian tax laws (CIT, VAT, PAYE, WHT, etc.).
- Prepare and file statutory returns promptly.
- Liaise with tax authorities, auditors, and regulatory agencies.
- Facilitate internal and external audits.
Internal Controls & Process Improvement:
- Implement and monitor effective internal financial controls.
- Reconcile bank accounts, vendor accounts, and payroll records.
- Strengthen financial policies, documentation, and reporting systems.
- Ensure proper documentation of all financial transactions.
Operational Oversight:
- Supervise accounting staff (where applicable).
- Support leadership with financial insights and decision-making data.
- Monitor cash flow and manage working capital effectively.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- ICAN or ACCA certification (fully qualified preferred).
- Candidates at the professional level with strong experience may be considered.
- Minimum of 5 years relevant accounting experience, preferably in:
- Education institutions
- SMEs with structured reporting systems
- Multi-unit business operations
- Strong knowledge of Nigerian tax regulations and statutory reporting.
- Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage, or similar ERP systems).
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Strong financial reporting and analytical skills
- High integrity and ethical standards
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Good communication and stakeholder management skills
