The Accountant is responsible for managing the financial operations of the restaurant and bar, ensuring accurate record-keeping, compliance with financial regulations, and providing insights to support business decisions. This role plays a key part in controlling costs, monitoring revenue, and maintaining profitability in a fast-paced environment.

Job descriptions & requirements

Responsibilities:

Financial Management & Reporting:

  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly financial reports (profit & loss, cash flow, balance sheet).
  • Monitor sales revenue from food, beverages, and events.
  • Reconcile POS systems, cash registers, and bank statements.
  • Track and report variances in revenue and expenses.


Cost Control & Inventory:

  • Monitor food and beverage costs to ensure they align with budget targets.
  • Conduct inventory audits (stock, beverages, supplies) and reconcile discrepancies.
  • Analyze wastage, pilferage, and inefficiencies.


Accounts Payable & Receivable:

  • Manage vendor invoices, payments, and supplier relationships.
  • Track receivables from events, bookings, and corporate clients.
  • Ensure timely payments and collections.


Payroll & Staff Costs:

  • Process payments.
  • Ensure compliance with labor laws and tax regulations.
  • Monitor staff cost ratios relative to revenue.


Compliance & Taxation:

  • Ensure compliance with local tax laws, VAT, and hospitality regulations.
  • Prepare and file tax returns.
  • Maintain accurate financial records for audits.


Budgeting & Forecasting:

  • Assist in preparing annual budgets and financial forecasts.
  • Provide insights on cost-saving opportunities and revenue growth.
  • Support management with financial planning.


Internal Controls:

  • Implement and maintain financial controls to prevent fraud and errors.
  • Monitor cash handling procedures and security.
  • Ensure proper documentation of all financial transactions.


Requirements:

  • Minimum BSC.
  • 3 years of previous experience in a similar role.
