Job Description/Requirements
Responsibilities:
- Devising lesson plans based on curriculum guidelines where appropriate
- Leading classes by giving lectures, demonstrating tasks, assigning tasks and encouraging discussions
- Encouraging student participation and performance
- Supervising students while they complete tasks independently
- Answering student questions
- Setting homework or exercises for students to practice their skills after class
- Developing and marking examinations to measure students’ progress
- Assessing and reporting on students’ academic achievements and behavior
Other Duties:
- Undertake other duties as may be required by the Head Teacher which are commensurate with the job.
- Willingness to work in any teaching role as seen fit by the Head Teacher.
- To supervise and teach any pupils whose teacher is absent and for whom alternative cover has not been obtained as directed by the Deputy principal
- To work with and give appropriate guidance to students, volunteers etc, and to contribute to the writing of progress reports etc on them.
- To carry out duties as described within the School Teachers’ Pay and Conditions Document.
- To attend Direct hours whole school and departmental teacher meetings as required
- Contribute to whole school events as and when required
- Promote and maintain the standards of the school’s commitment to safeguarding children
- Be aware of the school’s duty of care in relation to staff, pupils/students, and visitors and at all times carry our duties with due regard to the school’s health and safety policy
- Be aware of and comply with the codes of conduct, policies, and practices of Meadowfield School and its commitment to equal opportunities
- Participate in continuing professional development
Requirements:
- Written and verbal communication skills, including confident public speaking and active listening
- Superior knowledge of subjects they teach
- Ability to break complex topics down to make them more accessible
- Conflict resolution & classroom management i.e. managing disagreements between students and unruly behavior
- Organization for managing various projects and administrative tasks for different classes
- Creative thinking to engage students and develop innovative solutions to aid learning
- Basic computer literacy, including proficiency in data entry, word processing, and record-keeping software
