Job summary
The Truck/Maintenance Supervisor oversees the maintenance and repair of the company’s truck fleet to ensure optimal performance, safety, and regulatory compliance. The role involves supervising maintenance staff, coordinating preventive servicing, reducing downtime, and managing maintenance costs to keep fleet operations running efficiently.

Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate daily fleet maintenance and repair activities.
- Oversee inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs of trucks and heavy equipment.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and transportation regulations (e.g., DOT requirements).
- Schedule and assign work to mechanics and maintenance personnel.
- Monitor vehicle performance and maintain accurate service records.
- Manage inventory of parts, tools, and maintenance supplies.
- Coordinate with drivers regarding vehicle issues and maintenance needs.
- Control maintenance costs and assist in budget preparation.
- Investigate accidents, mechanical failures, and safety incidents.
- Ensure minimal downtime through effective preventive maintenance planning.
- Train and mentor maintenance staff and promote a safety-first culture.
- Liaise with vendors and external service providers when required.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required;Associate’s degree or technical certification in automotive/heavy equipment maintenance preferred.
- 3–5+ years of experience in fleet maintenance or heavy truck repair.
- 1–3 years of supervisory experience in a maintenance or transportation environment.
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and heavy truck mechanics.
- Familiarity with fleet management software and maintenance tracking systems.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and compliance standards (e.g., DOT, OSHA).
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- Problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
- Effective communication skills (verbal and written).
Certifications (Preferred):
- ASE Certification (Automotive Service Excellence).
- Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) (preferred but not always required).
- OSHA safety training certification
