Truck Driver
Job summary
The Truck Driver will be responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of construction materials, equipment, tools, company supplies, and other approved goods between company locations, construction sites, suppliers, and other designated destinations.

Responsibilities:
- Safely operate and drive company trucks to designated locations within and outside Enugu as required.
- Transport construction materials, equipment, tools, documents, and other company-approved items to project sites and other destinations.
- Conduct routine pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the truck before and after each journey.
- Ensure that the truck is in good operating condition and promptly report mechanical faults, defects, or unusual noises to the appropriate supervisor.
- Ensure that materials and goods are properly loaded, secured, transported, and delivered without damage or loss.
- Assist with the proper loading and offloading of materials where necessary, while observing appropriate safety procedures.
- Maintain accurate records of trips, fuel usage, mileage, deliveries, and other relevant vehicle information.
- Adhere strictly to all applicable road traffic laws, road safety regulations, company transportation policies, and speed limits.
- Exercise caution when driving in construction sites, residential areas, busy roads, highways, and difficult terrains.
- Maintain proper custody of company goods and materials while in transit.
- Verify delivery quantities and obtain appropriate acknowledgement or delivery documentation where required.
- Keep the assigned truck clean, presentable, and properly maintained.
- Monitor fuel levels and report fuel-related issues or unusual consumption to the supervisor.
- Ensure that all necessary vehicle documents and permits available to the driver are valid and properly kept.
- Report accidents, traffic incidents, vehicle damage, breakdowns, or other emergencies immediately to the appropriate authority.
- Avoid unauthorised use of the company truck or transportation of unauthorised persons or goods.
- Comply with company policies regarding fuel, vehicle usage, maintenance, security, and reporting.
- Maintain professionalism and courteous conduct when dealing with company staff, suppliers, contractors, clients and members of the public.
- Perform other reasonable duties related to transportation and logistics as may be assigned by management.
Requirements:
- Minimum educational qualification of SSCE/WAEC/NECO or equivalent.
- Minimum of 4 years’ proven experience in truck/heavy-duty vehicle driving.
- Must possess a valid and appropriate Class G License.
- Demonstrable experience driving trucks in construction, logistics, transportation, manufacturing, real estate, or a related industry will be an advantage.
- Must have good knowledge of road safety rules and defensive driving practices.
- Must be physically and mentally fit for the responsibilities of the position.
- Must demonstrate good judgement, alertness, patience, and responsible driving habits.
- Ability to read and understand basic written instructions and complete simple vehicle/trip records.
- Must have a clean or satisfactory driving record.
- Must be reliable, punctual, disciplined, and safety-conscious.
- Ability to work flexible hours and undertake occasional out-of-town trips when required.
