Job descriptions & requirements
Responsibilities:
- Driving and Navigation: Operate heavy commercial vehicles over short or long distances while obeying all traffic laws and managing travel routes using GPS systems.
- Vehicle Inspection: Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections on tires, brakes, and equipment, reporting any mechanical issues immediately.
- Cargo Management: Load, unload, or oversee the secure placement of freight using straps, chains, or ropes to prevent shifting.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, fuel consumption, mileage, and delivery receipts.
- Communication: Coordinate with dispatchers regarding traffic delays, route changes, or road hazards.
- Compliance: Adhere to government safety regulations, weight limits, and hours-of-service rules
Requirements:
- Must have a valid Driver’s Licence appropriate for the assigned truck.
- Proven experience as a Truck/Heavy-Duty Vehicle Driver.
- Excellent knowledge of Lagos roads and major routes.
- Strong knowledge of road safety regulations.
- Basic knowledge of truck maintenance and vehicle troubleshooting.
- Must be careful, safety-conscious, reliable, and trustworthy.
- Good communication and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet delivery schedules.
- Candidates should preferably reside within or have reasonable proximity to the Lagos Mainland.
