Travel Consultant
Job summary
The Destination Travel Consultant is responsible for advising clients on travel destinations, designing tailored itineraries, and managing end-to-end travel bookings. This role combines consultative sales, destination expertise, and customer service to deliver seamless, memorable travel experiences for individuals, groups, and corporate clients.

Responsibilities:
Client Consultation & Advisory
- Consult with clients to understand travel goals, budgets, timelines, and preferences
- Provide expert destination advice, travel recommendations, and itinerary suggestions
- Educate clients on visa requirements, entry rules, seasonal considerations, and travel logistics
Manage inbound leads from
- Social media
- Website
- Walk-ins
- Referrals
- Consult clients on destinations, travel options, budgets, and timelines
- Convert inquiries into confirmed bookings
Itinerary Design & Bookings
- Design customized itineraries for leisure, group, honeymoon, family, and corporate travel
- Handle flight bookings, hotel reservations, tours, airport transfers, and travel insurance
- Coordinate with airlines, hotels, DMCs, and local partners to secure the best options/deals
Sales & Conversion
- Convert leads from social media, referrals, walk-ins, and corporate inquiries into confirmed bookings
- Upsell value-added services such as Accommodation upgrades, tours, experiences, and insurance
- Meet monthly booking and revenue targets, Visa & Documentation Support
- Guide clients through visa application processes (where applicable)
- Review travel documents for accuracy and compliance
- Ensure clients are properly informed on travel requirements before departure
Client Experience & Support
- Maintain proactive communication with clients before, during, and after travel
- Provide support for itinerary changes, emergencies, or travel disruptions
- Build strong relationships to encourage repeat business and referrals
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Number of confirmed bookings per month
- Revenue generated from bookings
- Lead-to-booking conversion rate
- Client satisfaction and repeat bookings
- Accuracy and timeliness of bookings and documentation
Requirements:
- OND / HND / Bachelor’s degree in Tourism, Business, Marketing, or related field
- 1–3 years of experience in travel consulting or travel sales
- Knowledge of international destinations and outbound travel from Nigeria
- Experience using booking systems or travel platforms is an advantage
- Strong communication and persuasion skills
- Excellent attention to detail and organization
- Customer-centric mindset
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple clients
- Passion for travel and destination knowledge
Renumeration: NGN 150,000 monthly (based on experience)
Commission Model
- 3% – 7% commission on net profit per confirmed booking
- Higher commission for: Group trips, Premium/luxury packages, Repeat or referral clients
- Performance bonuses for exceeding monthly targets
Hybrid Work Structure
- On-site: 4 days weekly (client meetings, ticketing, internal coordination)
- Remote: 2 days weekly (follow-ups, itinerary planning, supplier communication)
- The role requires reasonable after-hours availability due to: Client time zones/Time zone differences, Client travel schedules/Travel support during a client's trip, Sales follow-ups, Operational needs, Emergencies
