Training Officer
Job summary
The Training Officer will be responsible for planning, coordinating, delivering, and evaluating training programmes for security guards, supervisors, and other operational personnel. The goal is to ensure that all personnel possess the knowledge, skills, discipline, and professional conduct required to deliver effective security services
Job descriptions & requirements
Responsibilities:
Recruitment & Induction Training:
- Conduct orientation and induction training for newly recruited security personnel.
- Introduce new guards to company policies, procedures, code of conduct, and operational standards.
- Assess recruits before deployment and recommend only those who meet required standards.
Security Training:
- Deliver regular and refresher training on:
- Access control and gate management
- Visitor screening and identification
Patrolling and surveillance:
- Incident prevention, detection, and reporting
- Emergency response procedures
Alarm response:
- Fire prevention and basic fire response
- First aid awareness
- Crowd control and event security
- Search procedures and prohibited items
- Communication and radio procedures
- Guard tour and checkpoint procedures
- Professional interaction with clients, visitors, and the public
Site-Specific Training:
- Conduct site-specific training before deployment to new locations.
- Familiarise guards with client SOPs, post orders, emergency exits, vulnerable areas, and reporting procedures.
- Conduct periodic site inspections to identify training gaps.
- Address training deficiencies arising from incidents, complaints, or operational weaknesses.
Supervisory Training:
- Train supervisors on effective guard supervision, team management, and report writing.
- Develop supervisors' skills in incident investigation, duty allocation, and escalation procedures.
Assessment & Evaluation:
- Develop written and practical assessments for trainees.
- Conduct examinations and competency assessments.
- Maintain accurate training records and identify personnel requiring retraining.
Training Materials & Development:
- Develop and update training manuals, lesson plans, SOPs, and presentations.
- Ensure training materials remain relevant to current security risks and client requirements.
- Introduce practical exercises and simulations where appropriate.
Requirements:
- A minimum of 3 years of experience
- A minimum of a degree in a related field
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Excellent organizational and record-keeping abilities
- Ability to develop training materials and assessments
- Knowledge of security operations and industry best practices
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
