Role Description

This is a full-time hybrid role for a Trading & Risk Analyst, based in Lagos, reporting to the Head of Sportsbook. You'll sit at the centre of our day-to-day trading operation — monitoring liability across the book, spotting exposure before it becomes a problem, and making the calls that protect margin. We work with a managed trading partner for pricing, so this role is less about setting prices from scratch and more about knowing when the default isn't right for our market and our customers.

You'll also own customer risk: identifying sharp, arbing, and bonus-abusing accounts, and applying the limits that keep the book healthy without punishing recreational players. As an early hire in the trading team, you'll have real influence over how we do things, with the support of an experienced Head of Sportsbook.

What You'll Do

• Monitor live liability and exposure across all sports, flagging and acting on positions that breach agreed thresholds
• Review pricing from our managed trading partner and escalate where it doesn't reflect local market appetite or our risk position
• Apply and maintain market limits, stake factors, and customer risk tiers within agreed parameters
• Watch exposure created by our social products — copy-betting and tipster followings can concentrate liability quickly, and you'll be the first line of detection
• Profile customer betting behaviour to identify sharp, arbing, syndicate, and bonus-abusing accounts, and recommend interventions
• Handle settlement checks, void and resettlement queries, and support customer service on trading-related disputes
• Produce daily and weekly reporting on margin, turnover, and GGR by sport, market, and product — with a view on why the numbers moved
• Support promotional activity by modelling the cost and risk of price boosts, free bets, acca insurance, and enhanced odds before launch
• Feed back to engineering and the Head of Sportsbook on gaps in trading tools, alerting, and dashboards
• Cover in-play trading during peak fixtures, including evenings and weekends on a rota

What We're Looking For

• 2–4 years in sports trading, sportsbook risk, or a closely related analytical role at an operator
• Solid grasp of pricing fundamentals — margin, true odds, correlated selections, and how accas and bet builders behave
• Practical experience with customer risk: stake factoring, limiting, and the judgement call between protecting margin and over-restricting recreational customers
• Comfortable working with data — SQL or strong spreadsheet skills, able to answer your own questions rather than waiting on a report
• Deep knowledge of football markets and how an emerging-market audience actually bets
• Careful and accurate under time pressure; settlement errors and missed exposure are expensive
• Clear communicator who can explain a trading decision to someone outside the team
• Willing to work a rota covering evenings and weekends around major fixtures

Nice to Have

• Experience alongside a managed trading service (Genius Sports, Betgenius, Sportradar, or equivalent)
• Exposure to virtuals, esports, or novelty markets
• Familiarity with the Nigerian or wider West African market — NPFL, EPL-dominant behaviour, typical stake profiles
• Understanding of where payments and fraud risk overlaps with trading risk
• Background at a launch-stage or fast-growing sportsbook
