Job summary

The Trading Analyst provides critical commercial intelligence, financial modeling, and risk evaluation to maximize profitability across the company’s energy commodity portfolio. This role focuses on analyzing market data, identifying arbitrage opportunities, evaluating counterparty risks, building pricing models & optimizing best business decisions

Job descriptions & requirements

Responsibilities:       

  • Conduct continuous research on regional and global oil and gas markets, tracking supply-demand balances, inventory levels, and macroeconomic trends.
  • Monitor and analyze benchmark prices (e.g., Brent, Platts) and price spreads to identify commercial trends and market anomalies.
  • Build and maintain quantitative models to forecast price movements, margins, and financial outcomes for prospective trades.
  • Evaluate and structure potential buying and selling opportunities for crude oil, refined products, or related energy commodities.
  • Perform cost-benefit analyses including netback calculations, freight/logistics costs, and financing expenses to ensure optimal profit margins.
  • Assist the trading team during contract negotiations by providing real-time data, valuation sheets, and sensitivity analyses.
  • Monitor credit, market, and operational risk exposures associated with open trading positions.
  • Track counterparty credit limits, financial health, and compliance records before and during transaction execution.
  • Collaborate with the Treasury and Risk teams to assess and execute hedging strategies to protect against adverse price volatility.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly trading dashboards, Profit & Loss (P&L) reports, and exposure summaries for senior executive review.
  • Work closely with Trade Operations and Finance teams to ensure seamless contract execution, accurate billing, and timely performance reviews.


Requirements:

  • Minimum of a BSC
  • 5 years of previous experience in a similar role
