Job summary
The Cashier is responsible for handling customer transactions accurately and efficiently while providing excellent customer service. The role involves processing sales, managing payments, maintaining cash records, and supporting smooth daily store operations.
Job descriptions & requirements
- Greet customers politely and assist them during checkout
- Process sales transactions accurately using the Point of Sale (POS) system
- Receive payments by cash, transfer, POS, or other approved payment methods
- Issue receipts, refunds, or exchanges according to company policy
- Balance cash drawer and reconcile sales at the end of each shift
- Handle customer inquiries and complaints professionally, escalating when necessary
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional checkout area
- Assist with basic stock checks and reporting low stock levels
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures
- Support other store duties as assigned by the supervisor
- Minimum of HND/BSC/OND qualification
- Must be a resident of Benin City.
- Previous experience as a cashier or in retail sales is an added advantage
- Basic computer and POS system knowledge
- Strong numerical and record-keeping skills
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Honest, reliable, and detail-oriented
- Ability to work under pressure and handle cash responsibly
- Retail store environment
- May require standing for long periods
- Shift-based work, including weekends or public holidays
