Job summary

Whitehouse Design Curators is seeking an experienced Technical Assistant to provide technical leadership across its real estate development, construction, and property projects. The role will oversee technical project delivery, land and property due diligence, regulatory compliance, construction quality, procurement, facilities.

Job descriptions & requirements

Responsibilities:
  • Lead the technical planning, supervision, and delivery of construction and property development projects from inception to completion.
  • Conduct technical due diligence, feasibility assessments, site investigations, structural assessments, and property acquisition reviews.
  • Review architectural, structural, engineering, and survey drawings to ensure technical integrity and compliance with applicable standards.
  • Oversee land acquisition due diligence, including title verification, survey plans, ownership documentation, development restrictions, and related property records.
  • Coordinate statutory approvals, planning and development permits, building approvals, and other regulatory documentation.
  • Maintain effective relationships with relevant government agencies, regulatory authorities, professional bodies, consultants, contractors, and technical service providers.
  • Monitor project quality, timelines, budgets, resources, contractor performance, and technical risks, ensuring timely corrective action.
  • Supervise the Procurement Manager and Facility Manager, ensuring quality sourcing, effective resource utilisation, safe facilities, and operational compliance.
  • Develop and implement technical SOPs, quality assurance processes, project governance frameworks, and operational procedures.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to project, technical, procurement, and facilities teams.
  • Prepare technical reports, project updates, risk assessments, and strategic recommendations for the Managing Director.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable land, building, planning, environmental, health and safety, and development control regulations.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Architecture, Building Technology, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience in construction, engineering, real estate development, property development, or technical operations.
  • Demonstrated experience overseeing multiple construction or development projects from planning through completion.
  • Strong working knowledge of the Nigerian Land Use Act, land acquisition, title verification, planning approvals, development control, and building regulations.
  • Proven experience coordinating statutory approvals and engaging relevant government and regulatory authorities.
  • Experience managing multidisciplinary teams comprising architects, engineers, surveyors, consultants, contractors, and other technical professionals.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise technical, procurement, facilities, and project teams.
  • Experience in real estate, construction, architecture, engineering, or property development is highly preferred.
  • COREN registration is required for engineering professionals; membership of relevant professional bodies is highly desirable.
  • PMP or other recognized project management certification is an added advantage.
  • A Master’s degree or relevant postgraduate qualification is an advantage.
