The Team Lead, Retail Sales is responsible for driving the growth and performance of the retail insurance sales function. This role involves leading and managing a team of regional sales managers and agents to achieve sales targets, expand market reach, and enhance customer engagement.

The role holder will develop and execute retail sales strategies, strengthen agency networks, and ensure the delivery of tailored insurance solutions to individuals and small businesses. Additionally, the Team Lead will oversee customer lifecycle management, agent recruitment and development, and the implementation of data-driven sales and customer management frameworks.

Key ResponsibilitiesSales Leadership & Business Growth

• Drive the expansion of the company's retail business by acquiring new clients and penetrating new markets
• Lead and oversee the sale of retail insurance products across multiple regions
• Develop and implement sales strategies to achieve and exceed retail sales targets
• Manage and coordinate regional sales managers to deliver on overall sales budgets

Agency & Team Management

• Lead the recruitment, onboarding, and management of retail sales agents
• Provide coaching, mentorship, and performance management for sales teams
• Ensure agent recruitment processes align with company policies and strategic objectives
• Establish and maintain effective agent development systems aligned with business goals

Customer Management & Sales Execution

• Manage the customer lifecycle through upselling and cross-selling of retail products
• Present, promote, and sell products/services to existing and prospective customers
• Conduct needs analysis and provide tailored insurance solutions to clients
• Advise customers on suitable insurance policies and customize offerings to meet their needs

Strategy, Analytics & Process Improvement

• Develop and implement an organization-wide retail agency strategy
• Support the development of customer-centric metrics and performance indicators
• Improve business processes and outcomes through effective customer management practices
• Lead initiatives for data collection, analysis, and integration of customer insights (quantitative and qualitative)

Learning & Development

• Identify performance gaps and implement training and development initiatives
• Support continuous learning to adapt to evolving market and business needs
• Promote a high-performance culture across the retail sales function

Qualifications/Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Finance, or a related field
• Professional certifications in Sales, Marketing, or Insurance (e.g., CIIN) are an advantage
• Minimum of 5–8 years' experience in retail sales within the insurance or financial services sector
• Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets and managing high-performing teams
• Experience in agency management and retail distribution channels
