Job Summary

We are seeking a supportive and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our international school. As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers to provide support to students and help create a positive learning environment. This role requires excellent communication skills and a passion for helping students succeed. The selected candidate will be chosen by the Director of Schools in consultation with the HOS and classroom teacher.

  • Experience Level : Mid level
  • Experience Length : 3 years

Job Description/Requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Assist teachers in preparing and delivering lessons.
  • Support students in their learning activities, both individually and in small groups.
  • Help maintain classroom discipline and a positive learning environment.
  • Assist with the preparation of teaching materials and resources.
  • Provide support to students with special educational needs.
  • Supervise students during breaks and lunchtime.
  • Help with the assessment and recording of student progress.
  • Participate in school events and activities.
  • Uphold the school’s mission and values.
  • Ensure health and safety measures are followed.
  • Demonstrate professionalism and cultural inclusivity.
  • Understand and adhere to school policies and guidelines.
  • Prioritize the safeguarding of children.
  • Attend assemblies and assist in supervising pupils.
  • Promote good attendance and monitor in accordance with the school's attendance policy.
  • Be available for parent-teacher conferences if required.
  • Attend relevant meetings and training sessions.

  • Effective support of teaching methods and student engagement.
  • Timely communication with teachers and staff.
  • Adherence to school policies and participation in meetings and events.
  • Assistance in curriculum planning and classroom management.
  • Positive attitude and interpersonal relations.


Requirements:

  • Associate’s Degree, NCE or higher in Education or a related field.
  • Prior experience working with children in an educational setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and staff.
  • Commitment to student development and success.


Location:
Abuja, Nigeria

Working Language:
English

Working Hours:
Monday to Friday, 7:20 am to 4:00 pm, with occasional Saturday work as required
