Responsibilities:
- Review and audit tax returns, financial statements, and accounting records to ensure accuracy and compliance with Nigerian tax laws.
- Assess compliance with Companies Income Tax (CIT), Value Added Tax (VAT), Withholding Tax (WHT), Personal Income Tax (PIT), Capital Gains Tax (CGT), and other applicable taxes.
- Identify tax risks, underpayments, overpayments, and potential areas of non-compliance.
- Prepare audit reports, tax assessment reports, and reconciliation schedules.
- Liaise with tax authorities such as FIRS and State Internal Revenue Services during tax audits and reviews.
- Provide recommendations on tax compliance improvements and internal control enhancements.
- Monitor changes in Nigerian tax laws and ensure organisational compliance.
- Support tax dispute resolution, objections, and appeals processes where necessary.
- Maintain proper documentation and audit trails for all tax reviews conducted.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field.
- Professional qualification such as ICAN, ACCA, ANAN, or CITN is an added advantage.
- Minimum of 2–5 years’ experience in tax auditing, taxation, or financial auditing.
- Strong knowledge of Nigerian tax laws, regulations, and compliance procedures.
