Role: Human Resources Manager – Manpower Recruitment
Location: Port Harcourt
Job Purpose
• To design and implement strategies for the management of a peaceful and harmonius atmosphere in the workplace; Ensure peaceful resolution of conflicts between management and labor unions/associations
• To support line managers and business unit leaders with independent professional judgement to properly manage their staff for results and industrial democracy
Core Responsibilities
• To provide an effective Industrial Relations service to the company, by promoting and supporting a harmonious and disciplined work environment, through teamwork within and between departments. Ensure consistency and compliance with company procedures and
• Provide technical guidance and expertise to management team regarding policies, procedures and problems affecting employee relations
• Responsible for the investigation, verification and analysis of any misconduct/ grievances and complaints by the employees and carry out domestic inquiry and issue query as and when required.
• Prepare investigation/domestic inquiry reports for Disciplinary Panel’s deliberation
• Participate actively in the development, interpretation, application and implementation of disciplinary guideline, grievance handling, employee counselling, performance improvement plan and other disciplinary related matters
• Carry out various awareness programs/activities to ensure that all employees are made known of such policies and guidelines
• Provide timely communication to manager and union personnel regarding new initiatives and policies, including relevant regulatory updates
• Lead teams associated with industrial relations, including any ad hoc committees formed for bargaining or specific situations that may arise
• Grow and develop others within the site to gain knowledge and understanding of how to manage bargaining agreement administration reasoning behind the development of strategies to manage industrial relations
• To review all agreements across our eight jurisdictions, Share information with the Head of Human Resources and also receive advice and guidance on key HR issues
Experience Skills / Knowledge / Competencies Performance Measures
• 10-15 years experience in HRM/IR
• Excellent knowledge of the Staff Orders;
• Good knowledge of Labour Laws and Industrial Relations practices;
• Ability to conduct investigations and produce reports accordingly;
• Excellent interpersonal skills;
• Good negotiating skills;
